What Is The Importance Of Sunblock For Your Body?

By Guest Author On January 13, 2011 Under Skin Care

Make sure of having good equipment with you, like a good sunblock and lots of beach fun equipment if you are going to the beach. But the question that comes in the mind is sunblock, that is also known as sunscreen, enough to protect your skin from harmful rays of sun? Not unless you know how to use it correctly- just applying it without knowing the proper method will do you no good.

If you need to apply sunblock, then first of all you should wash your face, but keep in mind that excessive washing can affect your skin negatively, so don’t overdo it. Make sure of employing a soft cleanser for rinsing your face with slightly warm water. Take a soft towel while patting your face, do not rub your skin too hard and keep it little moist.

Make sure you do not apply makeup or any other type of face cream on your face- just apply the sunblock directly. Apply an even layer of sunblock, and do not cut back on the quantity of it to save money- you do not have to buy costly anti-wrinkle creams if you apply your sunscreens properly. After applying, leave it for about 10 minutes, so that your skin absorbs it fully and gets protected from sun.

After this, do not apply anything on your face for approximately 15 minutes not even water as it will diminish the effect of sunblock. If you have to stay outside for an entire day, then you need to repeat this process after every 2 hours to get the effect of sunscreen completely. Do not forget your other body parts- there are many people who do not apply sunscreen on their ears or back of hands or neck, but all these parts are equally important as your face. Do not apply sunblock on your lips, but in place of it you can use a lip balm that has SPF15- and then leave it for 5 minutes before applying lipstick.

You should apply it on cloudy days too because the ultraviolet rays can still penetrate your skin and cause harmful effects even if you do not feel the sun on your skin. Many people do not use sunblock when the sky is overcast with clouds, but it is a bad thinking and you must always use it while going out.
