Treat Your Sensitive Skin Well By Feeding Your Body Well

By Guest Author On April 27, 2011 Under Skin Care

While women are buying skin care products with all the fancy ingredients to lift and firm, you are stuck using the mild stuff with none of those benefits. Why? You have sensitive skin. You know that putting something on your face, no matter how mild they claim it is, will only cause problems for you and your skin.

What can you do about this problem? How can a person with sensitive skin get the same anti-aging benefits that other women are getting? Begin from the inside.

Instead of applying fancy anti-aging products on your skin, eat them. Of course I don’t mean you should eat that facial cream or any other store-bought skin products for that matter. But, perhaps there’s an alternative out there in your garden or the produce aisle.

The benefits of eating foods that are good for your skin are similar to applying them directly to your skin. Your skin is your largest organ and it absorbs nutrients into your body. So why not skip the skin and go right to the inside of the body? Start with a few food items that are proven to improve the condition of sensitive skin:

Green tea: There are many skin care products now that contain green tea. However, they often contain ingredients that you may be sensitive to. Instead of using those products, drink the green tea and have the same effects on your skin. The bonus is you will benefit every other part of your body as well. Green tea has been shown to improve weight loss, lower cholesterol, and possibly lower the risk of cancer.

Cucumbers: Increase your vegetable intake every day and your skin will thank you. More fruits and vegetables in your diet will have a positive effect on the overall appearance of your skin. What else can you expect? How about weight loss and more energy? That’s not such a bad thing, is it.

Vitamin C: By increasing your intake of oranges and other vitamin C rich fruits and vegetables, you are adding all those anti-oxidants you were looking for in a skin care lotion. In addition, you will be hydrating your skin when you eat more fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are natural beauty products that haven’t left out a thing!

Don’t forget this important fact; your skin is your largest organ. Feed it well, whether you’re putting products on it or feeding it from the inside out with nutritious foods. Even if you don’t have sensitive skin, your skin will thank you for this special care. The bonus is you will be saving a fortune, too. No more expensive jars of cream; just a trip to the grocery store!
