Tips on Using Facial Masks
After the application of a facial mask, you will feel your skin nourished, moisturized and supple. This miracle effect of a facial mask lies on the instant effects by supplying huge amounts of nutrients to skin in a short period of time. But, such instant effect is not going to last for a long time because of nutrient loss. In order to prevent the nutrient loss, application of other skincare products immediately is essential.
There are many different facial masks in different brands available. The prices of these facial masks vary a lot from several dollars to a hundred dollars per piece. There is no guarantee for better effect for the expensive ones. But, it is not recommended for the cheapest ones. The fibers and essences in the cheap facial masks are of very low quality and may irritate your skin.
Some brands claim that there are 20ml to 30ml essence in every mask. In fact, the amount of essence should be much lesser as essence is quite expensive. Whether you skin is able to absorb such essence is more important than the actual amount of essence contained in the masks. After application, you may squeeze the mask to see if there is a lot essence left. If yes, the absorbency of this mask may not be high enough.
There are many different types of facial masks including paper facial masks and cream masks. The efficacy of a facial mask does not depend significantly on its texture but its functions. In general, facial mask in cream texture is more recommended for oily and mature skin because they have higher adhesive power. Paper facial masks are more recommended for dry skin as they have better moisturizing power.
If your skin is sensitive, you are not recommended to facial masks very often, especially when your skin is under irritated or allergic conditions. Applying masks (even soothing masks) when your skin is irritated may lead to more serious irritation. For normal skincare, you may choose gel masks. Gel mask are of better soothing power compared to masks of other texture. Or, you may simply DIY your own masks with thermal spring water and cotton pads.
Most of the facial masks require rinsing after application, but no rinsing is required for some of them. These non-rinse facial masks are usually light enough that you do not feel sticky after application. Besides, there will not be too much nutrients in the non-rinse masks. Therefore, it is better to follow the direction that not to wash your face after application. Otherwise, the effects of such masks may be lost.
