Oatmeal Facials That Save You Money

By Guest Author On April 19, 2011 Under Skin Care

You don’t have to spend tons of money on a facial at the spa because you can make almost the same thing with simple ingredients found in your kitchen. The best facials use only natural ingredients. Oatmeal is one of the ingredients to use for cleansing and moisturizing your skin. Many body products are made with oatmeal. To help cleanse and moisturize your skin, try one of the following oatmeal based facials.

A tablespoon of oatmeal powder, a single egg white, and a few drops of lemon oil are what you need for this first recipe. You can find lemon oil at most natural or homeopathic stores or you can check the organic section of your grocery store. Oatmeal powder can be made by grinding up the oatmeal you have on hand. Be sure not to use the instant cook kind, though. Because of the egg in the mixture, it is really important to mix the ingredients together completely. Then spread the mixture on your face, being careful to avoid your eyes. Allow to dry which takes about twenty minutes or so. Use a soft washcloth and water to remove the dried mask.

This next recipe is great for those suffering from dry skin. Mix together a ripe banana that has been mashed and a cup of oatmeal. This makes a really thick mixture which you can thin with some milk to make a creamy paste. Spread the resulting paste on your face, avoiding the area around your eyes and let sit for around fifteen minutes. After it’s sat for the fifteen minutes, use some clean water to rinse it off. You should notice the difference in your skin right away.

Really oily skin can also benefit from an oatmeal facial. This recipe is one of the simplest to make. Simply add water to some to natural oatmeal to make a creamy paste. After spreading this mixture on your face, avoiding the area around your eyes, let it dry completely. You will need to be patient as this can take some time. Remove from your face using your fingers once the mask has dried. This should prevent your skin from feeling excessively oily and more moisturized and clean. Rinse away any leftover oatmeal bits with water and use a soft, clean towel to pat dry.

Oatmeal can be use in various great ways to help improve your skin. If you want to make your own facials, many skin care specialists recommend using oatmeal. These facial recipes are just the beginning however, because there are thousands out there.
